Just like our founding 5 fathers before us, We believe as a fraternity that we are to be an aid to college men in mental, moral and social development. Membership is based on personal worth and character rather then wealth, rank or honor.
On January 10th 1899 5 men met to draw up the first constitution for a new fraternity at Illinois Wesleyan University. the purpose of the new organization was to be an aid to college men in mental, moral and social development. they sought to be different from other fraternities on their campus at the time by establishing a fraternity where membership would be based on personal worth and character rather than wealth, rank or honor. this new fraternity would be known for a few years as the "Knights of Classic Lore"
in 1902 they would eventually adopt the name we now know today as Tau Kappa Epsilon or TKE for short. in 1909 TKE expanded to Millikin University, this was the beginning of TKE's expansion, since then TKE as has seen a steady growth, we are now 292 chapters strong with chapters in both the United States and Canada, and have initiated over 268,000 members into our bond. Today Tau Kappa Epsilon continues to grow and is now the worlds largest fraternity.
Our chapter known as the Upsilon Eta chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon, was started on April 17th 2004 and was known as the Upsilon Eta colony, the following year we grew large enough to become a chapter, we received our chapter status on April 30th 2005. The Upsilon Eta chapter of TKE was one of the first greek organizations on our schools campus, other greek organizations would soon follow. Since our beginnings in 2004 we have hosted numerous events and charity work including our annual fund-raiser TKE in a box, and have had 203 members initiated into our bond.
